Editing existing override types

The Override Types page displays detailed information for each timesheet override type that has been set up in the application. See Employee overrides.

Note: This is a standard configuration page. Not all attributes apply to all override types.

To edit an existing override type:

  1. Select Maintenance > Payroll Settings > Advanced Payroll Settings > Override Types.
  2. Click Edit next to the override type you want to edit.
  3. Specify this information:
    Override Type
Specify the name of the override type.
    Description
Specify a brief description of the override type.
    Display Order
Specify the order in which the override is displayed in the New Edit drop-down list on the Daily Timesheet. For example, if the value is 2, the override type is displayed second in the New Edit list.
    Active
Select this check box to enable the override. This field determines whether the override type is displayed in the New Edit list in the Schedule and Timesheet pages. An override will only be displayed on a page if both the Active check box and the page check box (for example, Show on Employee or Show on Schedule) are selected.

For example, if the Active check box is cleared and the other check boxes in the Override Types page are selected, the override is not displayed. Similarly, if the Active check box is selected but none of the other check boxes are selected, the override is not displayed on any of the pages.

    Show?
This field is not currently used.
    Prefix
Specify the prefix that is appended to the override type name. This prefix is displayed in the overtyp_prefix column of the OVERRIDE_TYPE table.
    Show on Employee
Select this check box to display the override type in the Employee Override page, when applicable.
    Show on Schedule
Select this check box to display the override type in the Schedule page, when applicable. This option also indicates that the override type should be displayed in the New Edit drop-down list on the Schedule page. But if this option is not selected and the Active check box is selected, the override type will still be displayed in the list.
    Show on Timesheet
Select this check box to display the override type in the Daily Timesheet page, when applicable. This option also indicates that the override type should be displayed in the New Edit drop-down list on the Daily Timesheet. But if this option is not selected and the Active check box is selected, the override type will still be displayed in the list.
Note: Not all override types are eligible for use on the Daily Timesheet.
    Show as Link
Select this check box to display the override type as a hyperlink in the timesheet edits section. Click the hyperlink to open the override type window for the override type link. If not selected, the override type will be displayed as regular text (view-only).
    Show on Weekly Timesheet
Select this check box to display the override type in the Weekly Timesheet, when applicable.
Note: Not all override types are eligible for use on the Weekly Timesheet.
    Max Duration
Specify the maximum number of days over which the override can be applied. If this field is blank, there is no limit to the number of days the override can cover.
    Allow Mass Edit
Select this check box to allow the override to be modified by mass edits.
  4. Click Save.

There is a relationship between the Active check box and the check boxes representing the various related application pages, which include:

  • Employee Overrides page
  • Schedule page
  • Daily Timesheet page
  • Weekly Timesheet page

When the Active check box is selected, the override type is active and can be included in timesheet calculations. But in order for the override type to display on a page, you must select the Active check box and the check box specifically related to the desired page.

For example, if you select the Active check box and the Show on Schedule check box, the override displays on the Schedule page.

In the case of the Schedule page and the Daily Timesheet page, selecting the Active check box alone, or selecting both the Active check box and the Show on Schedule or Show on Timesheet check box, causes the override type to be displayed in the New Edit drop-down list on the respective Schedule or Daily Timesheet page.
