Results

1a - Employee earns a premium

In this example result, the employee is scheduled to work the NIGHT shift, which starts at 18:00 and ends at 01:00. The employee records working from 18:00 to 20:00, taking a half hour break, and then working from 20:30 to 1:00.

The employee is assigned to the eligible shift, has recorded eligible time within the zone, and has worked 93% of their scheduled time (6.5 hours out of a scheduled 7), so the Shift Premium Zone Rule pays the employee a premium.

The employee earns a 3.5 hour premium, paid at $12 an hour, charged against the SUPPORT department.

1b - Employee works ineligible shift

In this example result, the employee is scheduled to work the AFTERNOON shift, which starts at 13:00 and ends at 20:00. The employee records working from 13:00 to 16:00, taking a half hour break, and then working from 16:30 to 21:00.

Although the employee has recorded eligible time within the zone, from 20:00 to 21:00, the employee is not assigned to an eligible shift, so the Shift Premium Zone Rule does not pay the employee a premium.

1c - Employee does not work enough

In this example result, the employee is scheduled to work the NIGHT shift, however spends most of their shift in training. The employee records receiving training from 18:00 to 23:00 and working from 23:00 to 1:00.

Although the employee is assigned to the eligible shift and has recorded 1 hour of eligible work within the zone, the employee has not worked 3 eligible hours or at least 75% of their scheduled time. Time spent in training does not count as eligible work, so the employee has only worked 2 hours of their scheduled 7 hours, roughly 29%, and does not earn a premium.
