Sending published shifts to relief

Unassigned shifts in a published Master Rotation (MR) or One-time Schedule (OTS) can be designated as relief shifts. This allows the shifts to be assigned in the Relief Calling Area (RCA) or designated as Relief Not Needed (RNN). This method can only be used to send shifts to relief when these conditions are met:

  • The row containing the shift in the MR or OTS is not assigned to any employee.
  • The shift has not been assigned to an employee in the ASV or any other MVS component.
  • The shift has not already been sent to relief.
  • The status of the MR or OTS is PUBLISHED. Note that shifts cannot be sent to relief using this method if changes have been made to the MR or OTS after the schedule was last published.
  1. Edit a published MR or OTS.
  2. Click a shift to select it.
To select multiple shifts, hold CTRL when clicking on the shifts.
  3. Right-click the shift and select one of these options:
    Queue
Send the selected shifts to the Relief Queue. The shifts are used to create a new relief queue.
    Relief
Send the selected shifts to the Relief Queue and directly open the RCA, where the shifts can be assigned. After selecting this option, click Proceed to confirm you would like to go to the RCA.
    RNN
Designate the shifts as RNN shifts.
  4. If any of the selected shifts cannot be sent to relief, a list of the selected shifts is displayed. The reason why the shift cannot be sent to relief is displayed next to each ineligible shift. Click Send to send the shifts that may be sent to relief and ignore the ineligible shifts. Or, click Close to cancel.
The selected shifts are sent to relief. If the Relief option was selected, the RCA is opened. In the MR or OTS edit screen, shifts that have been sent to relief are displayed in light orange.
