Enabling 4G support over the network

You can use PuTTY or the configuration update process to enable 4G support on 8000 Series clocks by copying the apn.txt file to the clock. The clock must be connected to the network to perform this configuration. You must obtain a SIM card and the APN information from your mobile service provider.

  1. Insert the SIM card into the 4G-supported clock. This requires an 8000 Series clock with a 4G adapter.
  2. Create a file in a text editor with the file name apn.txt.
  3. Specify the APN in the file, and then save the file.
For example, if the APN is infor.apn, the apn.txt file would contain only this text:
    infor.apn
  4. Use PuTTY or the configuration update process to copy the apn.txt file to the /etc directory on the clock.
See these topics for more information:
  5. Reboot the clock.
4G connectivity is enabled on the clock. The clock will use 4G when a LAN or Wi-Fi connection is not available.
