Accrual commencement date

The requirement that the accrual of paid sick time should start on the later of the accrual commencement date and an employee’s hire date is defined by the core application functionality with the correct accrual configuration:

  • Employees who are already hired as of the accrual commencement date begin accruing sick time as soon as the calculation dates fall within the specified start and end dates for the accrual. In this example, the dates are configured as 01/01/2012 and 01/01/3000, so no accruals occur before 01/01/2012.
  • Employees who are hired on or after the accrual commencement date begin accruing as of their hire date. Accruals do not occur before an employee’s hire date.
