Importing data through the WFM application

Note: This option should only be used in environments where the data import cannot be performed using the Migration Tool due to access restrictions on the destination database or other security requirements. Customers must import data using the Migration Tool unless it is impossible to do so.
Data contained in an encrypted migration file can be imported through the Import Migration File maintenance form. The import of migration data can be performed by connecting to the WFM application server that corresponds with the destination database. This allows you to perform data migrations in environments where the source and target databases may not be on the same network or where direct access to the destination database is not available. The data import is performed asynchronously to allow large numbers of records to be imported. When an import is completed, a Workmail message is sent that contains the status of the import and the number of records that were added, deleted, or updated.

Migration files imported using this option must be created by the Migration Tool using PGP encryption. To decrypt the migration file, the destination database must contain the private key that corresponds with the public key used to encrypt the migration file.

Before importing data using this method, it is recommended to place WFM into Maintenance Mode. Maintenance Mode is used to prevent end users or job scheduler tasks from affecting WFM application data during the import process.
