Scenario 6 - On-Call Employees

Nancy is scheduled a 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on-call shift as an RN in the ER. The on-call shift is identified using an On-Call activity, and an OC (On-Call) time code.

At 6:00 AM, Jane (the supervisor of the ICU) determines that she needs additional RNs for the morning shift. Jane opens the MVS, loads her ER unit for the current schedule, and navigates to the Schedule Period view.

Jane looks for RNs that are on-call for the Morning Shift (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM) by looking at the 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM day part. She sees by the OC time code that Nancy is on-call. Jane calls Nancy and asks her to come into work for 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Jane then selects the OC shift, changes the activity from On-Call to Called-Back and changes the time code from OC to CB (called-back) in the Schedule Details panel.

After making the changes, Jane republishes the schedule and chooses to notify only the affected employees of the change; in this case, Nancy.
