Floating employees to another shift using Details Edit

You can float an employee from one shift to another using Details Edit.

  1. Display the ASV view in which you want to float an employee from one shift to another. See Displaying schedules with ASV.
  2. Click the Edit Mode icon in the upper right corner of the window.
  3. Select Details Edit.
  4. Select the shift that you want to float to another shift. The details edit mode panel is displayed below the shift.
  5. Click Float. The Float Wizard is displayed.
  6. In the Floating Shift tab, select the unit to float the shift to in the Float To Unit lookup. Only the teams to which you have security access are displayed in the lookup. To help you select the correct team, the team description is also displayed in the lookup.
    The unit is updated in the Float to row of the floated shift.
  7. Specify this information for the Float To shift:
    Work Date
    Specify the date to which you want to float the employee. This field defaults to the same day as the Float From shift.
    Position
    Select the position the employee must fill.
    Detail Day
    Optionally, select Prev to float the shift to the previous day or Next to float the shift to the next day.
    Start Time
    Specify the time at which the shift is to start.
    End Time
    Specify the time at which the shift is to end.
  8. Select one of these options:
    • Create New Shift: Creates a new shift.
    • Select existing unassigned shift: Selects an unassigned shift.
  9. If you are creating a shift, specify this information:
    Shift
    Select the shift to float the employee into. Only the shifts associated with the unit selected in the Float To Unit field are displayed in the lookup.
    Note: The selected shift must overlap with the Float To times.
    Activity
    Optionally, select the activity of the shift
    Skills
    Optionally, select one or more skills for the shift.
    Otherwise, select an unassigned shift from the lookup.
  10. Click Next. The Manage Relief tab is displayed.
  11. If you are creating relief for the floated shift, select the float code from the Float Code lookup.
  12. In the Create Relief for floated part of Original Shift section, select the relief status from the Status lookup to create a relief shift on the Float From unit for the floated part of the original shift.
  13. In the Create Relief for remainder of Target Shift section, select the relief status from the Status lookup to create a relief shift on the Float To unit for any time in the original shift that is not covered by the target shift.
  14. Click Next. The Confirmation tab is displayed.
  15. Review the details of your floated shift including any relief. Click Previous to return to previous tabs if you need to make changes.
    Any compliance errors are listed in the Schedule Compliance Violation(s) section.
  16. Click Finish to complete the float transaction. The shift is floated to the selected unit and relief shifts are generated, if applicable.
