Lengthening and shortening shifts with on-call and work time

Shifts with on-call and work time can be lengthened or shortened using Mass Edit. When you lengthen or shorten a shift, both the on-call and work time can be affected.

Example: Lengthening a shift with on-call and work time

An employee is scheduled on-call from 7:00 to 19:00 and is called into work. Work time (WRK) gets assigned over top of the on-call time and also ends at 19:00.

If the employee is then needed to stay at work until 20:00, you can lengthen the shift by one hour. Since both the on-call and work time run until the end of the shift, an hour is added to both the on-call and work time. The shift now ends at 20:00.

Example: Shortening a shift with on-call and work time

An employee is scheduled on-call from 7:00 to 19:00 and is called into work. Work time (WRK) gets assigned over top of the on-call time from 13:00 to 18:00.

If you shorten the shift by one hour, then only the on-call time is reduced by one hour. The shift now ends at 18:00.

If you shorten the shift by three hours, then the on-call time is reduced by three hours and the work time is reduced by two hours. The shift now ends at 16:00.
