Step 4: Create a reader of type KRONOS in your reader group

After reader groups have been set up, you must add readers and assign them to the appropriate reader groups.

To add a reader to support the integration of Kronos 4500 and InTouch clocks:

  1. Select Maintenance > Reader Setup > Readers.
  2. Click Create New Entry.
  3. Specify this information:
    Reader
    Specify the name of the new reader. The reader name should be consistent with the reader named used when submitting swipes from the IOMotion PDC Gateway middleware application.
    Description
    Specify a description of the new reader.
    Reader Type
    Specify KRONOS which you created in Step 3.
    Reader Group
    Select the reader group to which the reader is assigned from the lookup. Select the reader group that you created in Step 2: KRONOS_CLOCKS_GROUP1.
    IP Address
    For clocks connecting to the standalone clock server, specify the IP address of the reader.
    Reader Status
    Indicate whether the reader is online or offline from the lookup
    Reader Zone
    Readers can be associated with various locations or zones within an organization. Typically, all readers belong to the same zone.
    Time zone
    Select the time zone of the reader from the lookup.
    Disable PIN Validation
    Select the check box to disable employee PIN validation so that employees only need to provide a badge, but not a PIN.
    Biometric Mode
    • None: Specify this option to disable biometric validation.
    Enable Schedule Validation
    Select the check box to verify that the employee is scheduled to work at the time of the clock punch. If an employee attempts to punch in when they are not scheduled, the punch is rejected.
    Enable Swipe Sharing
    Do not select swipe sharing and clear the check box.

    Start Grace
    Specify the grace period at the start of the employee’s shift during which an employee's swipe is considered valid. For example, if there is a 15 minute grace period set and an employees swipes in 10 minutes after the shift has started, the employee is considered to have swiped in on time.
    End Grace
    Specify the grace period at the end of the employee’s shift during which an employee's swipe is considered valid. For example, if there is a 15 minute grace period set and an employee swipes off 10 minutes before the shift has ended, the employee is considered to have swiped off on time.
    Swipe Method
    Select the swipe type that is used by the clock. Specify Default.
  4. Click Save.
