Verifying Clock Connectivity to the Host
Before sending clocks back for repair or replacement, verify the clock’s condition on your network by performing the following steps:
At the command prompt of the host computer, specify the following:
C:\> ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of the clock (for example, 192.168.14.12).
You will:
-
Receive a reply confirmation message that indicates that the clock reader is connected. For example,
Reply from 192.168.14.12: bytes=32 time<10ms TTL=64
. -
Not receive a reply confirmation message (for example, a request timed out). If this occurs, check the cables and clock setting and repeat Step 1.
