Configuring LFSO Budget Constraints

Configure LFSO budget constraints only after publishing the plan to use as a scheduling constraint. Otherwise, there are no payroll dollars in the plan, because there is no published plan, which constrains the schedule to zero payroll dollars. This configuration means that nothing can be scheduled. For information on publishing a plan to LFSO, see Publishing and Unpublishing Payroll Data to LFSO.

You use the following three scheduling rules to configure how LFSO uses the payroll dollars from Labor Budgeting as a scheduling constraint: Do not exceed budget, Use schedule to budget, and Schedule to Ownership.

  1. Select Scheduling > Schedule Optimization > Setup – Schedule Rules.
The Schedule Rules page is displayed.
  2. Click Edit beside the schedule rule for the employee group for whom to use budgeting payroll dollars as a scheduling constraint in LFSO.
  3. Click Staffing rules.
The Staffing rules area is displayed.
  4. For each of the following staffing rules, decide whether to select the check box or leave it cleared. For detailed scenarios of these rules alone and together, see LFSO Budget Constraint Scenarios.
    Use schedule to budget
This option schedules to the budget and not to customer demand. This option increases or decreases the scheduling workload until the workload reaches the budget.
    Do not exceed budget
This option restricts staff assignment to the budget specified on the Location General Setup page, as described in Setting the Budget Type in LFSO. This option decreases the scheduled workload until the workload reaches the budget constraints.
    Schedule to Ownership
This option ensures that employee-specific minimum hours are provided for each scheduling period. If the employee minimum hours exceed the budget, then the budget is exceeded. If you do not want to exceed the budget, select the Enforce minimum hours per schedule staffing rule.
  5. Click Save or Save & Continue.
