Generating a Plan Using a Scheduled Task

This section describes how to create and schedule a task in Job Scheduler to generate a plan. Alternatively, you can generate a plan manually. See Generating a Plan Manually.

Before generating a plan, make sure that the pre-generation tasks are complete. See Preparing the plan for the budget manager.

In general, you generate a plan from the Job Scheduler to generate large plans, for example, generating an annual plan for an entire organization. To avoid compromising system performance, you usually schedule this task to run during off-peak times.

  1. Select Maintenance > System Administration > Job Scheduler.
  2. Click Add Schedule.

The Job Scheduler page is displayed.

  3. In the Task Description field, specify the name of the task.
  4. In the Task Type area, select Java Task.
  5. Select Labor Budgeting - Forecast Generation Task from the drop-down list.
  6. Complete the other fields on the Job Scheduler page.

See the Infor WFM Time and Attendance Implementation and Administration Guide.

  7. Click Submit.
  8. Click OK.

The Task Schedules page is displayed. The task you created is displayed in the list.

  9. Click Parameters next to the new task.

The Forecast Generation page is displayed.

  10. Select an option:
    • Create New Forecast to create a new forecast or projection.
    • Update Existing Forecast to update data for a specified time period in an existing forecast or projection.
  11. Select a forecast method using the Forecast Method lookup.

The value of the EXCLUDE_SO_INTERNAL_TYPE_IDS registry parameter determines which forecast methods are displayed. See the Infor WFM Registry Parameter Reference Guide.

For a list and descriptions of forecast methods, see Forecast Methods.

Depending upon your system configuration, you may see the Budget Creation-specific forecast methods, such as BUP - Trend of Historic Averages and Bottom Up - Growth Adjusted Trend. You can use the Configuration mode to hide these forecast methods. See the Infor WFM Time and Attendance Implementation and Administration Guide.

  12. Click Continue.
The Forecast Generation Details page is displayed.
  13. Complete the required fields. See Specifying Plan Parameters.
  14. Click Continue.
  15. Click OK.
The application generates the plan according to the specified schedule.
