Authorization

After the Attendance Management module has been set up by the system administrator, supervisors are responsible for authorizing events and violations before they are processed by the Workforce Management system. Neither events nor violations are automatically authorized by Workforce Management. Because supervisors can exercise some control over back-end processing by reprocessing records, the system only processes events and violations that have been authorized by a supervisor; it does not process information from previous time periods.

Authorization follows these steps:

  1. Supervisors authorize events on the timesheet.
  2. A violation is triggered once its threshold is reached. For example, an employee is late twice in one week.
  3. Supervisors authorize the violation using the Attendance Management Authorization Form.
  4. Attendance Management performs the violation’s action. For example, an employee is sent a notification.

In addition to authorizing events and violations, a supervisor can also reprocess records for a given period in these circumstances:

  • An error occurred during auto-processing
  • Historical records changed
  • Pending events or violations were not authorized before auto-processing occurred
