Reserve shifts

Shifts can be set as reserve shifts to give them the lowest possible priority when Auto-Assignment generates the schedule. A shift is set as a reserve shift by adding the RESERVE property with a value of true in Shift Configuration.

See "Shift Configuration" in the Infor Workforce Management Multiview Scheduler User Guide.

Auto-Assignment only assigns a reserve shift when it is required to satisfy a minimum rule. Leaving a reserve shift unassigned does not cause any penalty. For example, a rule group has a rule requiring employees receive at least 40 hours per week. The schedule contains three 8-hour DAY shifts and three 8-hour RES shifts, which have the reserve property, as unassigned on different days. To create a weekly schedule for a single employee, Auto-Assignment would assign all three of the DAY shifts and two of the RES shifts. One RES shift is left unassigned, because the employee has enough hours from the other shifts to satisfy the minimum number of hours.
