Starting and Ending Breaks

The process for starting or ending a break is very similar to the process for clocking in or out.

To record the time that you start or end your break:

  1. Swipe or enter your badge using one of these options:
    • Type in your badge number using the numeric keypad on the clock.
Note: If your badge number is alphanumeric (combination of letters and numbers), you cannot enter the badge number on the clock. You will have enter your badge number by swiping your card.
    • Place your proximity badge on the badge picture located under the IN and OUT keys.
    • Swipe your magnetic or barcode badge through the card insert on the right side of the clock. Your badge number is displayed.

    Your badge number is displayed.

Note: You may not have to enter a badge number if your administrator has enabled Identification mode for biometric validation. If this is the case, only a fingerprint is required for authentication. For more information, contact your system administrator.
  2. If prompted for verification, choose an option:
    • Specify your PIN and press ENT on the clock keypad.
    • Place your finger on the fingerprint reader.
  3. Press the F1 (Time Code) function key.

Select the start break or end break time code by using the up and down arrow keys on the clock or the F1 (Prev) and F2 (Next) function keys. You can also select a time code by choosing the corresponding number on the clock keypad.

  4. Press ENT on the clock keypad to select the time code.
  5. If your start break or end break punch is:
    • successful, a confirmation message is displayed.
    • unsuccessful, an error message is displayed. Error messages vary depending on the type of error and the configuration of the clock. Some examples:

      • Invalid ID
The clock reader does not recognize your ID or badge. Ensure that you are:
        • specifying your ID correctly.
        • scanning your badge properly.

Try the punch again. If you receive the same error message, contact your supervisor.

      • It is too early to return from break

You are not scheduled to return from your break yet. Contact your supervisor.
