Biometric Functions
If you are using a WB5500 Series Clock with a fingerprint scanner you’ll need to register each employee’s fingerprint in the clock reader. Fingerprints are registered through a process called enrolling. Employess must enroll before they can use their finger print to punch in and out.
The picture of an employee’s fingerprint is called a template. The template is stored in the WB5500 Series Clock’s memory. When you exit the biometric functions screen, new templates are sent to the system. If the system is not connected, the templates are exported with other data during a scheduled update to the system. Once in the system, a new template is sent to all the other clock readers in the same reader group. Reader groups are configured by your system administartor in the system. The system uses reader groups to link employees to groups of clocks. Employees can perform clock punches at any clock in their reader group.
After an employee successfully enrolls, you can return to the biometric functions and test the scan of their finger. A test scan ensures that the WB5500 can read their fingerprint. Testing the finger scan does not create transactions. The test scan is designed for training employees on proper finger placement.
