Security

The security of the WB5500 relies heavily on the security of the network to which WB5500 is connected. If the WB5500 is placed on a public network that is accessible by the Internet, you run the risk of unauthorized access. User accounts use two levels of password protection to access the WB5500. However, we strongly recommended that the WB5500 be placed on a secure network behind a firewall.

To decrease the possibility of unauthorized access, you should change the default passwords for the admin and root users as they may be guessed by malicious software.

This section describes how to perform these security tasks:

  • Modifying the admin user password
  • Modifying the root user password
  • Modifying the clock’s PIN, which is used to access the configuration screens
  • As of the Workbrain 5.0.3.0 release, modifying the Administration Mode PIN
  • As of the Workbrain 5.0.3.0 release, modifying the Troubleshooting page username and password
