You can upgrade from one version to a later release, skipping one or
more upgrades. For example, you can upgrade from 5.0.2.0 to 5.0.3.1 or from
Fixpack 15 to Fixpack 18.
To upgrade several release versions at a time:
-
Download the appropriate fixpack zip files. Zip files are in the
form
generic-update.5-0-28-0.dir-5.0.3.3.1805-Fixpack-Dec-18.zip.
-
Extract the contents of the files, ensuring the directory
structure is preserved, so that each zip file creates its own directory. For
example, if upgrading from Fixpack 15 to 18, you will have three extracted
directories:
update.5-0-16-0.dir,
update.5-0-17-0.dir, and
update.5-0-18-0.dir.
-
Copy the extracted contents to the file update repository
directory. This directory is specified by the value of the
/system/clocks/DOWNLOAD_DIR registry parameter.
Copy the extracted directories sequentially, from earliest to latest.
Continuing the example, copy
update.5-0-16-0.dir first, then
update.5-0-17-0.dir, and finally
update.5-0-18-0.dir.
This operation creates a directory structure with three
subdirectories:
-
UpdateRepository\update.5-0-16-0.dir
-
UpdateRepository\update.5-0-17-0.dir
-
UpdateRepository\update.5-0-18-0.dir
The WB5500 Series Clock will automatically update its software on a
scheduled or interval basis. After updating between fixpack versions, the clock
will reboot. Ensure the clock is not in use during the update. The timing of
the update is set by the
thread.fileupdate.schedule or
thread.fileupdate.interval setting.
