Biometric problems

This table lists potential problems specific to biometric versions of the WB5500:

Problem Details and Resolution
Fingerprint reader does not light up when attempting to enroll a user. Ensure that biometric.enabled = true in edc_settings.conf.
Finger never gets verified successfully after enrollment. Ensure that the finger being enrolled is clean and dry. The reader must detect a pattern and sometimes there are fingers that cannot be read. If a finger repeatedly does not scan, try a different finger. If no fingers work for a particular employee, biometrics can be disabled for the particular employee in the employee badge table.
I enrolled a while ago on Clock A but cannot use my finger on Clock B. Ensure the two clocks are in the same reader group. Biometric data is only shared among the clocks in the same group. To check the clock’s reader group, select Maintenance > Reader Setup > Readers.

The WB5500 uploads newly enrolled templates immediately after exiting the enrollment screens, as long as the WB5500 has a connection to the application server.

To ensure the templates were uploaded, run the Send New Bio Data function from the Supervisor menu of the clock. This operation can be done on the clock.

Clocks update their information on a fixed schedule, but the other clock may not have had a connection when the download was scheduled.

Fingerprint scans are frequently rejected or are failing enrollment. Ensure the fingerprint scanner glass is clean.

Ensure fingers being scanned are clean and dry.

Ensure the finger is centered on the scanner and pressed firmly.

If the fingerprint scan still fails for a large group of employees, decrease the biometric threshold value.
