Configuring the key combination

Administration Mode is accessed by pressing a series of keys from the clock’s idle screen. By default, this combination is Clear, Clear, Enter, Enter, but you can configure the WB5500 to enter Administration Mode after any series of key presses.

To configure the Administration Mode key combination:

  1. Using WinSCP, open the edc_settings.conf file in the ~admin/java/apps/wbcs/conf folder.
  2. Locate this setting:
    admin.keySequence.accessString =
  3. Replace the string to the right of the equal sign with the new key combination. The string represents the keys and the order in which they must be pressed to enter Administration Mode. In addition to the numeric keys, CL represents the Clear button, OK represents the Enter button, and these labels can be used to represent keys on the clock’s keypad:
Keys on Left side of Number pad Keys on Right side of Number pad
    F7 F1
    F5 F3
    RIGHT F2
    LEFT F4
    INFO F6
    STAR F8

Separate the keys in the key combination with commas. For example, specifying 1,2,CL,OK means users must press the 1 button, followed by 2, Clear, and Enter to access Administration Mode.

  4. Press Ctrl + S to save.
  5. Press Ctrl + T.
  6. Turn off the clock.
  7. Specify reboot and press Enter.
