Configuring time zones

During installation, you set the time zone of the WB5500 Series Clock on the clock. You can also set the clock’s time zone in the application on the Readers Detail page.

If discrepancies exist between the two settings, the time zone set on the clock is used. In the 5.0.2.0 release, a new setting was introduced to control which time zone setting takes precedence.

To configure this setting:

  1. Using WinSCP, open the settings.conf file in the ~admin/java/apps/wbcs/conf folder.
  2. Modify this line:
    wbsynch.webservice.useWBAppReaderTimezone = Y
    • When set to Y, the time zone settings in the application are used.
    • When set to N, the time zone settings on the clock are used.

    When wbsynch.webservice.useWBAppReaderTimezoone = Y, the time zone on the clock is only changed if the time zone set in the application is different and the time zone is supported by the clock’s Java Runtime Environment. If the time zone is not supported by the clock’s Java Runtime Environment, the time zone set on the clock itself is used.

  3. Press Ctrl + S to save.
  4. Press ESC to exit.

Wait for WinSCP to transfer the file before rebooting the clock. WinSCP will temporarily display a pop-up, listing files to be transferred. When this pop-up closes, the file has been transferred and you can reboot the clock by pressing Ctrl + T and specifying reboot in the console prompt.
