Changing the fingerprint scanner sensitivity

The WB5500’s biometric threshold value determines how precise or sensitive the fingerprint scanner is when scanning fingerprints. The scanner can be configured to be more or less lenient when comparing the scanned fingerprint to the picture of the fingerprint that is stored as a biometric template.

If the fingerprint scanner is repeatedly rejecting fingerprint scans, the threshold value might be set too low.

To adjust the biometric threshold value:

  1. Open the edc_settings.conf file using WinSCP.
  2. Modify the bio.identify.threshold setting. Specify a value between 0 and 9, where 0 represents the strictest setting and 9 the most lenient.
  3. Save the file.
  4. Press Ctrl + T.
  5. Specify reboot and press Enter.
