Obtaining approvals

The default Shift Billboard workflows include Role nodes that require approval from users with the supervisor role. When a request is routed to a Role node in the workflow, an approval decision is required before the request can progress to the next node. A workmail is sent to the appropriate user or users to request the approval. Users can approve or reject a request directly in the workmail message in mobility or the desktop application.

User roles for approval are based on the assigned roles for the home team of the employee that is posting, claiming, or withdrawing the shift. For example in the default workflow, approval is required from the team supervisor for shift posting or claiming requests that would introduce schedule compliance warnings into the schedule. When an employee requests to post or claim a shift that requires approval due to schedule compliance warnings, the supervisor for the employee's home team is sent a workmail message to approve or reject the request.
