Fill priority

This topic describes the order in which back-ordered products are filled by the Sales Entry Back Order Fill Report.

Specials, nonstocks, direct orders, and orders that are tied to a purchase order or warehouse transfer are filled first, regardless of the fill method selected.

After orders that are tied to purchase orders or warehouse transfers are filled, the pick priority for each customer is checked by the system. If the Pick Priority field on the Customer Setup record is greater than 0, the customer receives priority. Customers with a Pick Priority of 9 receive the highest priority, and customers with a Pick Priority of 1 receive the lowest priority.

After the back orders with priorities are filled, the remaining back orders, and back ordered transfers that are not tied, are filled in order of requested ship date.

The Sales Entry Back Order Fill Report allocates product to sales order ties, back orders, and warehouse transfers with completed prebuilt kits based on the requested ship date of sales orders, with one exception: order lines that are filled with products created from a work order are allocated based on the date the work order entered, not on the order's requested ship date.

When a line item is filled, the quantity shipped is increased to match the quantity ordered or the Costs Net Available in Product Warehouse Product Setup, whichever is greater. The quantity back ordered for each product is decreased and the Costs Reserved quantity in Product Warehouse Product Setup is increased. The line item is no longer considered open and the next time you perform back order fill, it skips the line item. Even though back order fill is performed, you can still manually change the back order in Sales Order Entry or Sales Shipping Feedback Entry.
