Value Add orders and TWL
A customer can initiate the creation of a VA item when the customer service representative enters a sales order. When the sales order is entered, the customer can specify the components, instructions for fabricating the item, and any other details that the customer requests. The VA order is tied to the sales order to ensure the finished item fills the correct sales order. The tied VA order can also be marked as a rush order to communicate the urgency of meeting the customer’s expectations.
If you regularly stock the VA item, a VA order can also be created by an automatic replenishment process when stock levels reach a designated minimum quantity. When the VA order is approved, the fabrication process can begin.
When you print a VA order, it is downloaded to TWL to start downstream tasks. For an externally fabricated item, your warehouse picks and ships the components to an external service provider. Components that you fabricate in your TWL warehouse follow the same processing route that a prebuilt kit uses.
