Setting up products for product configurator

Every build-on-demand kit parent item and Value Add (VA) assembly-type item that you want to configure with Infor CPQ must be designated in Product Setup as a Configure Kit. This facilitates mapping between corresponding CPQ rulesets and organizational containers.

The steps assume the build-on-demand kit has been previously set up. SeeSetting up a prebuilt or build-on-demand kit.

The steps are the same for both build-on-demand kits and Value Add products, except for one difference in the General tab:

  1. Select Product > Setup > Product.
  2. Specify the product and click Search.
  3. In the grid, drill down on the product.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. If the item is a build-on-demand kit, in the General tab, in the Kit section, in Order Entry Kit Rollup, verify the pricing setting is appropriate for this kit.

How the system integration prices kits varies, based on the option selected here. You may have set up your build-on-demand kit with the option set to Price or Both. If so, thenDistribution SX.e rolls up the price based on the parent and its components. If the setting is Cost or Blank, the list or base price comes from CPQ.

  6. If the item is a non-kit Value Add item that you want set up for CPQ, in the General tab, in the Kit section, in the Value Add Assembly Type field, select CPQ Configurator.
  7. Access the Cores & Configurator tab.
  8. In the Kits section, specify the Rule Set.

A Ruleset specific to the product must be specified in the Rule Set field. This setting is CPQ-provided information. The Ruleset is configured in the CPQ Design Studio.

  9. Select Configure Kit.
  10. In the Optional AO Overrides section, specify this information:
    • Application Name:<CPQ-provided information>
    • Namespace:<CPQ-provided information>
  11. Click Save.
