Selling stock from an alternate warehouse
You can set up warehouse cross-references in Product Extended Warehouse Cross Reference Setup. Then,
during Sales Order Entry, if you do not have enough
product on hand, you can select the product from an alternate warehouse that has
existing and surplus stock.
Note: Use this
if you have implemented 3PL functionality to manually enter an order for stock in a
customer’s warehouse when there is not enough stock to fill the order from the
customer’s inventory. Alternate warehouses must be set up for the customer’s
warehouse. During order entry, if you have entered an order for an item in your
customer’s warehouse and there is insufficient stock, you can manually split the
line.
When an alternate warehouse is available for the product, the Warehouse Availability view is displayed in the Add Line Item section. The available alternate warehouses are listed in the view's grid. This record contains a list of all the warehouses from which you have permission to transfer stock.
The product is reserved in the alternate warehouse and an automatic warehouse transfer is created after your order is invoice processed.
