Changing the terms of a sales order on hold

If an order is on hold because of an overdue balance, you can change the terms of the order. The customer can then receive their order while you take steps to ensure payment. For example, a customer might agree to pay an extra COD amount on each receipt until they pay off their overdue debt.

Note: You must have authorization to change the hold status of an order. Yes mus be selected for the Allow Override of Order Approval Status setting on your SA Operator Setup record. Authorization per hold code is also required for legacy and operational hold codes.
  1. Select Sales > Inquiry > Credit Release.
  2. Specify the search criteria, and then click Search.
  3. Click the right arrow to open the record.
  4. In the Shipping Information section on the Header tab, change the terms. Optionally, add comments.
  5. To include a COD addon, click Cash on Delivery (C.O.D) and then specify an amount in the Added COD field.
  6. If you use legacy codes, optionally specify y in the Approval field to approve the order.
Note: If you approve an order, the sales order is validated against Product Restrictions Setup records to prevent restricted products from being sold to an unauthorized customer. Unless a restricted product on a line is overridden or sent to lost business, each line is validated against the restriction records to determine if the product can be sold to the customer. If a product restriction applies to the order, an error message is displayed. Restricted product errors must be addressed in Sales Order Entry.
  7. If you use operational hold codes, optionally remove the associated hold code from order.
    1. Click the right arrow next to the Approval field.
    2. Select the hold to release, and then click Release.
    3. Click the back arrow to exit the page.

If you released the last hold on the order, the approval code for the order is changed from n to y.

  8. Click Update to save the changes to the order.
