SA Operator Setup - Function Security overview

System Administrator > Setup > Operator

Use this page to limit access to system functions and control the ability to view or manipulate certain types of information.

Setting security levels for each operator is a vital step in the initial set up of your system. Review each individual’s role within your organization before determining their level of security within the system. After the review is complete, the system administrator can set up the appropriate security for each operator.

See Security settings.

Security levels are specified on operator records. When you initially set up your system, create a master operator record in SA Operator Setup. Then, duplicate the master record using the Create Like option to create additional records. You can then set each operator’s security settings to the appropriate level. You must set the security level for every function in each module the operator is allowed to enter.

Exercise caution when you assign level 5-Full Security to menu options. Level five provides full access to a function, enabling the operator to inquire, change, add, and delete. Assigning a lower security level ensures greater security for the system. Many functions, such as transaction entry and inquiry functions, have sub-functions. Define the appropriate operator security for these sub-functions after you assign security for the main function.

Note:  Individual operators should not have access to the security function. Set the security level to 1-No Access for this function. The system administrator should set up all operators and perform any maintenance required.
