Product Extended Unit Conversion Setup overview
Function acronym: ICSEU
Use this function to set up unit conversions records for products that you sell, buy, or count products in a unit of measure other than the stocking unit on the Product Setup. You can also specify product and package information that is used in cartonization process.
You must create a product record in Product Setup before defining unit conversion information.
If a unit conversion is unique to a product, set up the unit conversion record in Product Extended Unit Conversion Setup. If a unit conversion applies to multiple products, set up unit conversion records in SA Table Code Values Setup.
During transaction entry functions, Product Extended Unit Conversion Setup is checked to determine if a unit conversion record exists. If it does, the conversion factor is used to determine the correct price and cost. If it does not exist, the conversion factor from SA Table Code Value Setup is used.
If you use cartonization, automatic assignment of cartons is based on the line item unit that is specified on sales orders and warehouse transfers. During the automatic cartonization process, Product Extended Unit Conversion Setup is checked for a unit conversion record for the product. If a record exists and the Calculate Dimensional Size on Unit is selected, the dimensional information from the unit conversion record is used to assign cartons.
If the Calculate Dimensional Size on Unit is not selected, the product dimensions from Product Setup are used to determine the dimensions for the unit conversion product.
