SA Administrator Options - Documents - Kit Production - Processing overview
Use this page to determine when back orders are created for work orders and to set the tolerance for changes in kit value.
If the BO option is selected on a work order, you can back order any portion of a work order for prebuilt kit products. A back order is created when the quantity shipped, which is the quantity that can be built, is less than the quantity ordered. The difference between the two quantities is moved to a new work order suffix as the quantity ordered. If you must back order the entire work order, the -00 suffix becomes a back order.
You can create back orders in entry, printing, or acceptance. We recommend that you create back orders during printing. After a work order is printed, any components that cannot be filled are moved to a back order. This clearly separates the original work order from the back order.
