Price rounding methods
The method that you use to round your prices can affect your pricing strategy. Use administrative options to specify the way calculated prices are rounded when setting up or maintaining price records. The Price Rounding field in the Defaults section of SA Administrator Options-Products-Pricing indicates whether the calculated price should be rounded up, down, or to the nearest target amount. The target amount is specified in the Price Target field. The price that results after this specified rounding is displayed in Sales. There are nine options from which to choose that vary from 100 to 0.00001, and a user-defined option. You can change these default values on individual pricing records set up in PD Pricing Setup.
For example, if you specify that prices should be rounded to Nearest with a price target of 100, a price of $142.50 would be rounded to $100.00. The same price with a price target of .01 would result in a price of $142.50.
If you select User in the Price Target field, the User Target field in PD Pricing Setup is displayed. Although the price represents two decimal positions, you can specify a standard value you want the price rounded to.
For example, if you want your prices to end in .95 , specify .95 in this field and prices would be rounded up, down, or to the nearest .95. In another example, if you select Nearest, a User Target of .05, prices are rounded to the nearest price that ends in .05.
Rounding also applies to discounts. Discounts are rounded before they are subtracted from the price. When calculating price as a percentage of base or list price, the net price is rounded after the markdown.
When you update rebate calculations in PD Mass Maintenance Entry, the calculations performed in SM Rebate Report are rounded and then added to determine the claim amount. This prevents small rounding errors from being posted to suspense.
