KP Component Setup field descriptions
General
- Allow Substitutes
-
Select this field to allow substitute products for the original component.
- Component
-
Specify the component's product number. The product must set up in Product Setup.
- Component Type
-
Select a component type. Components can be one of five different types: Component, Group, Keyword, Options, or Reference. A kit can consist of hundreds of components in any mix of the five component types.
- Kit Product
-
Specify the kit product number, as defined in Product Setup.
- National Program
-
Select this option if this component of the kit qualifies for a National Program.
- Price
-
Select this field to include the component price in the price of the kit. This should also be referred to during Sales Order Entry when you are rolling up the price of a kit when you sell the kit.
-
Select this field to print the component on documents, such as order acknowledgments, pick tickets, bid worksheets, invoices, and bid preparation proposals. These documents may be printed if this component is part of a build-on-demand kit. The component is listed on invoices if the List on Invoice option is selected in Product Setup. Pre-built kit components are not listed on invoices, order acknowledgments, bid proposals or pick tickets. Components are always listed on the work order.
Clear this field if you do not want to list the component on documents. Note that the component and reference information for build-on-demand kits always prints on pick tickets, regardless of this setting.
- Quantity Needed
-
Specify the standard component quantity needed to build the kit. You must specify a positive number. If this is a variable quantity, specify a standard quantity needed and select the Variable field. Items with a variable quantity are those that may change each time the kit is sold.
- Reference
-
Specify relevant reference information for the component. References may be assembly directions, cautions, explanations, or other information to help the customer or picker assemble the kit.
Reference records allow you to insert reference text by adding text at any point in the assembly list. If specific references have been set up in SA Table Code Value Setup, a period (.) or pound sign (#) must precede the number entered in the first three positions of the Reference field. After you save the record, the description replaces the reference number.
- Required
-
Select this field if this product is required to build the kit. A required component cannot be deleted from the kit during entry.
- Unit
-
The product's stocking unit from Product Setup is displayed automatically. Specify a unit of measure set up in Product Extended Unit Conversion Setup or SA Table Code Value Setup, or retain the product's stocking unit of the measure. If you specify an invalid unit, this error message is displayed: Units Not Set Up in Unit Table - ICSEU or SASTT (4026)
- Variable
-
Select this option if the component quantity needed to build a kit varies each time the kit is sold or transferred. When the kit is built, the standard quantity needed is displayed. You can change the quantity, if necessary.
- Version #
-
Specify the kit product version number. You must specify a kit product before you can specify the version. Version numbering allows you to change the setup of a kit or VA product and retain the previous setup information, including components.
- Version Reference
- Specify a description for the version.
