Warehouse transfer types
There are two types of warehouse transfers, regular warehouse transfers (WT) and Direct Order (DO) warehouse transfers. Designate the type when you enter a warehouse transfer in Transfer Entry. You can copy both types of warehouse transfers, but the new transfer you create from the copy is a regular warehouse transfer.
Warehouse Transfer (WT)
The regular warehouse transfer is the most common type of warehouse transfer. It represents a request to the shipping warehouse to deliver the specified quantities. You can enter nonstock and catalog products on a warehouse transfer.
Direct Order (DO)
Direct Order (DO) warehouse transfers are used when the warehouse ships the merchandise directly to your customer. You create DOs in Sales Order Entry. DO warehouse transfers do not adjust on order balances.
The PO/WT Ties setting on your SA Operator Setup record does not allow you to enter warehouse transfer ties, you must obtain temporary authorization from a supervisor with grant authority to create a tie.
