Expanded vendor product number

The vendor product number is the product number the vendor uses for this product. The Vendor Product field can be expanded to allow entry of up to 50 characters. The default is 24 characters. The expansion enables you to accommodate product, item, service, part, or SKU numbers used between partners, vendors, and customers that exceed the 24-character limit.

Select Allow Expanded Vendor Product Length in SA Administration Options-Products-Defaults to enable the extension. Sign out and then sign back in to Distribution SX.e to activate the change. If you do not enable the expansion and try to specify more than 24 characters, this message is displayed: Maximum Length of 24 (5081).

This action enables use of the expanded product number in specific entry functions, such as Product Warehouse Product Setup and Product Catalog Setup. You create a vendor cross-reference record in Product Extended Product Cross Reference Setup to associate your product number with the vendor's product number. It also enables your EDI flat files to accommodate up to 50 characters. EDI 810in, 856in, 861in, 845in, 844out, 849in, 852, 855 can process this expanded number.

This action also enables you print up to 50 characters on the purchase order using Purchase Order Entry, if you use a third-party form-printing solutions, such as Unform or NowDocs.
