Tying a Do Not Reorder product to a warehouse transfer

Do Not Reorder (DNR) products are usually products you want to discontinue and no longer sell. You can sell remaining quantities on hand, but you do not intend to replenish them. A product’s status is changed to DNR in Product Warehouse Product Setup manually, or automatically when you run the Product Administration Inventory Classification and Rank Report and the product is classified as class 13. The Status field in Product Warehouse Product Setup can also be updated by Product Administration Exception Processing Center-Mass Update.

When you enter a DNR product in Sales Order Entry with insufficient quantity available in the ordering warehouse, you can use stock from another warehouse to fill the order. Use these instructions to tie the DNR product to a warehouse transfer.

  1. Select Sales > Entry > Order.
  2. Add or maintain a stock order, and then click Next.
  3. In the Add Line Item section, specify the DNR product and the quantity. Verify or modify the unit and price.
  4. In the Sourcing view, check the net available quantity in the ordering warehouse in the Warehouse Availability grid. If there is insufficient product to fill the line but there are surplus quantities in other warehouses, select the warehouse from which you want to receive the product.
  5. Select Warehouse Transfer in the Product Source field.
  6. Select Allow Backorder in the Document Disposition field.
  7. Select the Copy Comments option to include the comments from the sales order on the warehouse transfer.
  8. Specify the Due Date and the Ship Via method and click Done Sourcing.
  9. Click Add.

If a DNR line item is tied to a warehouse transfer, the line is automatically flagged as a rush order.

  10. Finish the order.
