Tag and Hold disposition
If a customer cannot provide delivery instructions when they place an order, you can assign a Tag and Hold disposition to the order. This disposition indicates that you should hold the order until the customer can provide shipping instructions.
When you use the Tag and Hold disposition, the order is tagged for the customer and held in a staging area until the customer contacts you with shipping information. Available inventory is reserved based on the quantity ordered, and a pick ticket for the materials available is printed.
Products on the Tag and Hold order can be back ordered, but they are always allocated to the original order number. An order with a new suffix is not created for the back order. The back ordered balance for each product is updated with the quantity of product that is not available. You cannot change the Backorder option on the line item for Tag and Hold orders.
The staging area of a Tag and Hold order is printed on the pick ticket. A shipping address is not printed on the pick ticket until the order is released, even if the order is complete. To release a Tag and Hold order, change the order disposition in Sales Order Entry. The order disposition is usually changed to None. You can then print a pick ticket with the shipping address. If you do not change the disposition, warehouse personnel are presented with a 'cannot process' message when they try to ship the order in Sales Shipping Feedback Entry.
