Taxability

For each addon shown, to determine if an addon is taxed, this field works in conjunction with the customer’s Taxable Type value specified in Customer Setup-Taxing. This table shows the relationships between taxability, taxable type, and whether the addon is taxed. Use this table to determine the value to select for the jurisdiction you are setting up:

Taxability Taxable Type Result
Yes Taxable Addon is taxed.
No Taxable Addon is not taxed.
Product Taxable Addon is taxed if the product-based tax on the sales order is greater than zero. The addon is not taxed if the product-based tax is zero.
Exemption Taxable Addon is taxed if no SA Exemption Setup record is associated with the order. Addon is not taxed if an exemption record exists.
Yes Variable Addon is taxed.
No Variable Addon is not taxed.
Product Variable Addon is taxed if the product-based tax on the sales order is greater than zero. Addon is not taxed if the product-based tax is zero.
Exemption Variable Addon is taxed if no SA Exemption Setup record is associated with the order. Addon is not taxed if an exemption record exists.
Yes, No, Product, or Exemption Non-taxable Addon is not taxed.
Note:

If you are integrated with Sovos GTD interface, the taxability of the addon is determined by the taxable status of the sales order line.

If you are integrated with AvaTax, addons are set up differently. See the Infor Distribution SX.e Integration Guide for AvaTax for specific information.

If you are integrated with Vertex Cloud, we recommend that products and addons be set up as taxable in Distribution SX.e, then allow Vertex Cloud determine if the taxability should be changed based on a tax code. In this case, the tax sale amount on the order entry header is loaded based on the fact that the order entry line or the addon is taxable on the order itself. If the line or addon is determined by Vertex Cloud to be non-taxable, the tax status of the line or addon is not changed. However, the taxable amount returned by Vertex Cloud is decreased by the amount of the line or the addon.
