Shopping for freight rates in Sales Order Entry

You can access the Freight Rate Shop functionality from in these functions:

  • Sales Order Entry-Taxes & Totals
  • Sales Shipping Feedback Entry-Shipping Details

These instructions are for accessing freight rate shopping from Sales Order Entry.

  1. Select Sales > Entry > Order.
  2. Click Maintain, and then specify the order you want to freight rate shop for.
  3. Select the Taxes & Totals view.
  4. Click Freight Rate Shop.
    Basic order information is displayed. The order’s ship and order weight are displayed in editable fields.

    If a product does not have a weight record, this message is displayed so you know that the weight-freight calculation is not based on all products: Warning Product With No Weight (8078) Lines: # of lines.

  5. In the Ship Via Types grid, review the carriers and rates.
  6. Optionally, you can modify the Order Weight or Ship Weight. Do not change these values unless you are sure of the weight. If you changed the values in the Order Weight and Ship Weight fields, click Recalculate to recalculate the order freight or ship freight values listed for the Ship Via records in the grid.
  7. Perform one of these actions:
    • Select a Ship Via Type different from the one noted in the Current Ship Via field in the basic order information. By default, the records are sorted from lowest rate to highest rate. When a record is selected, the Select button is enabled. Click Select to apply the selected ship via and freight rate to your order. Your change is reflected in the Current Ship Via in the basic order information. Click the back arrow to exit Freight Rate Shop and navigate back to the Taxes & Totals view.
    • Click Cancel to retain the Ship Via, and its associated freight rate, as specified when the order was initiated.
  8. To activate your changes, you must navigate out of, and back into, Taxes & Totals. For example, click the Select Products view, then click the Taxes & Totals view. If you make a change and navigate out of Taxes & Totals by clicking Finish or Collect Payment, you cannot see the results of your changes because the changes are made after leaving Taxes & Totals.
  9. Optionally, if you changed the Ship Via or recalculated the weights, then, in the Taxes & Totals-Addons view, click Addons. Confirm the updated freight is displayed in the Addons grid. Addon number 2 is reserved for Freight Out.
  10. Complete the order.
