Transfer units of measure
Warehouses can use different units of measure for the same product. If a transfer unit of measure is set up for a product or product line in the shipping warehouse, it is used as the default value in transfer and other functions.
If a transfer unit of measure is set up in Product Warehouse Product Setup-Ordering for the shipping warehouse, the unit is the default setting in these functions:
- Transfer Entry
- Transfer Entry Recommended Replenishment Action Report
- Transfer Demand Center Entry when you add a line to a report
Transfer units of measure are validated against Product Extended Unit Conversion Setup and SA Table Code Value Setup records.
If the transfer unit of measure fails to validate, the stocking unit from the Product Setup record in the shipping warehouse is used.
If a transfer unit of measure is set up in Product Line Setup-Ordering for the shipping warehouse and that unit is validated, that unit is the default setting for all products associated with the product line.
In addition to the Transfer functions previously listed, the transfer unit of measure for product lines is also the default setting for these functions:
- Product Warehouse Product Setup
- PD Administrator Automatic Pricing
- Product Extended Product Cross Reference Setup when you set up superseded products
When you copy product lines in the Product Administration Warehouse Copy Report and SA Administration Cross Company Product Copy Report, the transfer unit of measure is also be copied.
