How Credit Card Interface works

The Distribution SX.e system is integrated with the credit card processor, CenPOS. CenPOS is a hosted payment solution. CenPOS stores and protects your customer cardholder data (CHD) in CenPOS servers, so you no longer need to store or manage CHD locally in your systems. The CenPOS solution uses tokenization and primary account number (PAN) truncation to lessen your burden of PCI-DSS requirements. The solution provides real-time authorizations for transactions, and handles the settlement portion as well. The CenPOS Virtual Terminal provides credit card processing solutions for several transaction types; for example, sale, authorization, return.

The CenPOS integration allows you to essentially retain normal processing workflow in functions such as Customer Credit Card Setup and Sales Order Entry. The main difference is that instead of specifying cardholder data (CHD) in the Distribution SX.e system, you input the CHD directly into CenPOS' stand-alone, secure Web browser. Then, CenPOS sends back a "token" (an alias number for the credit card number). The token is a number that is generated by CenPOS. The token is tied to the actual credit card number, which is stored on the CenPOS server. This token serves as the linchpin for any future transactions.

To enable tendering during order entry, the token process shows the last four digits of the customer's credit card number. This protection method is called a primary account number (PAN) truncation. The method provides a recognizable number during tendering. This keeps a portion of the number "on file" so you can look the number up quickly. For example, you can ask a customer during order entry, "What are the last four digits of the card you want to charge to?"

In addition, CenPOS’ agnostic payment processing approach enables the Distribution SX.e system customers to accept a wide range of payment methods and process them with almost any merchant service provider. CenPOS is certified with some of the largest processors and merchant services providers in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Europe. These certifications include, but are not limited to: First Data, TSYS, Vantiv, Valitor, and EPX.
