Advanced search
If a basic search returns too many results, use advanced search to refine your search. An advanced search provides more search criteria fields than a basic search. For example, you can only specify the vendor for a basic search in Vendor Inquiry. If you conduct an advanced search, you can also specify these and other values:
- Vendor Type
- Keyword
- Include Inactive
- City
- State
- Zip code
- Phone number
Advanced search is available primarily in, but not limited to, inquiry functions. If advanced search is available in a function, an
button is displayed in the Search function.Advanced search is unique to each function. The criteria fields that are available are based on the function. In most functions, all criteria fields are displayed by default. Exceptions include functions, such as Sales Order Inquiry, in which the criteria fields are too numerous to display by default. You can use the Criteria field to display and hide fields, based on your requirements.
The criteria fields are grouped in field sets that contain related fields. Examples of field sets include General and Address field sets for customer and vendor setup and inquiry functions.
When you first open Advanced Search, the default search is displayed. The default search can be the system default or a saved search that you designated as the default search. Use the default search or load a saved search by selecting it from the Saved Search field.
After you conduct a search, the criteria field values are retained as long as the function remains open. Click
to clear the fields to conduct a subsequent search using the loaded search. To reload the default values for a saved search, reload the saved search.Saved searches are stored in the Distribution SX.e database. You can select your saved searches on any machine or browser from which you access Distribution SX.e.
When you conduct an advanced search using keywords and other criteria, an initial subset of records is selected that is limited by the Maximum Record Count for Keyword Lookups value. Then, a second search is conducted against that subset that is limited by the value in the Record Limit field.
You can personalize each Advanced Search window.
Date ranges
When you specify a date in a From field, the To field is automatically updated with the same date. The value in the From field is used as the To date even if the To field is not selected in the Criteria field.
For example, you only select the Promised From field on Sales Order Inquiry. You specify 8/8/2020 in the field, and then click . Based on these criteria, you might expect the results to show orders from August 8 to the current date. Instead, the results only include orders from August 8.
You can conduct open-ended searches for date ranges, but you must specify the current date in the To field.
