Margin holds on quote orders
When you create a quote order, the total margin amount of the order might not meet the required margin amount or percentage for sales orders. If a customer receives and accepts such a quote, you might be obligated to fill the order at that margin level.
To ensure that you meet the required margins, you can select the Apply Margin Hold to Quotes option in SA Administrator Options-Documents-Sales Orders-Approval Process. This option applies the order entry margin hold settings for sales orders, which are defined in SA Operator Setup, to all quotes. Margin hold criteria is applied whether the quotes are created in Sales Order Entry, Sales Customer Pricing Inquiry, Sales Entry Batch Update Report, or through API calls. If a quote does not fall within the margin hold parameters, it is placed on margin hold. If a quote is created by copying an approved order, the new quote is subject to the margin holds settings.
If a quote is on margin hold, you cannot print the order in Sales Entry Processing Acknowledgements Report, Sales Entry Processing Quote Print Report, or Sales Order Entry. The option to print orders on hold in the Sales Entry Processing Acknowledgements Report excludes quotes. If you attempt to print a quote on margin hold, no print output is generated.
To remove a margin hold from a quote, use one of these methods:
- Change the order amounts in Sales Order Entry to correct the margin error.
-
Remove the margin hold code from the quote in Sales Order Entry or Sales Credit Release Inquiry. You can remove the margin hold code only if it is allowed per your operator security.
You can convert a quote on margin hold into a Stock Order (SO) in Sales Order Entry or Sales Credit Release Inquiry. Because the order is also subject to the margin hold settings, the SO is placed on margin hold. Additionally, you can create a price record in Sales Order Entry from a quote on margin hold.
Except for printing restrictions, quotes on margin hold are processed the same as sales orders on margin hold. For example, quotes on margin hold trigger the same events as sales orders on margin hold. If you use Event Manager to inform you of an OE Margin Limit Exceeded event, you are notified when a quote does not fall within the margin parameters. Similarly, the credit manager selected to be notified for the Orders are Hold due to Credit Hold; Notify setting in SA Operator Setup is also notified when a quote is placed on margin hold.
