Global Track and Trace
Global Track and Trace (GTT) assists in tracking long-distance shipments as they move from the supplier's Ship From location to the customer's Ship To location through significant checkpoints.
GTT has two primary components:
- Shipment tracking
- Inventory projection
Shipment tracking
The Shipment Tracking console displays shipment status and estimated delivery dates for long-distance shipments. Users can drill into specific shipment details to focus on checkpoints and arrival dates. Estimated and actual arrival dates for these locations are gathered from shipment managers to determine an estimated delivery date. Customers can utilize this estimated delivery date to forecast inventory levels and plan production.
Inventory projection
The Inventory Projection console predicts future levels of inventory by comparing in-transit part quantities to consumption levels specified by the customer. Through this console, customers can see how shipment punctuality and lead times are affecting inventory, gaining the ability to act quickly to potential shortages and stoppages.
To use GTT's inventory projection, customers must routinely send (import) Part Inventory and Part Consumption APIs to Supplier Exchange.
