Testing data formats

After you have validated your data formats you can test them against a data file.

To test a format you must view it in Text View. If it is not displayed, change to Text View by selecting Edit > Change view or click Change a Format view on the toolbar in Format Designer.

  1. In Format Designer, select Edit > Test Format or click Test a Format on the toolbar. The Test a Format dialog is displayed.
  2. Navigate to and select a file to test the format. The test file type must be valid for the format you are testing.
  3. Click Open.

    If successful, the Test Results window is displayed showing the external file format data alongside the interim XML generated from the schema definition.
