Export runtime parameters

When creating a profile, you must enter runtime parameters and specify whether they can be overridden at run-time. All parameters can be set to allow runtime override. Export runtime parameters can be specified when you create export profiles or internal transfer profiles.

For export profiles, you must select the file basis, then enter the path and name of the file to which the data is to be exported. In File name you can click the button to browse and select the path.

Each of the Overridable check boxes determine whether the relevant runtime option can be overridden during the transfer process.

File Handling Options

The table below indicates the file handling options that are available as target runtime parameters for export profiles:

Parameter Value Options
Generate unique file name Yes/No If Yes, the output file name is based on the file name entered (either in the profile or at run-time), but is uniquely identified (for example, by appending user name and creation date/time).

This allows the same profile, using the same file name, to be run by multiple users outputting to a shared directory, without overwriting each other's data.

Overwrite file of the same name Yes/No If Yes, a message is displayed to warn you that the data for this profile will be overwritten.
Append to file of the same name Yes/No If Yes, a message is displayed to warn you that the data will be appended to the existing profile. The append and overwrite options are mutually exclusive.
Note: If XML files are appended, they are not well formed and may not be accessible in XML editors. This option is only suitable for archiving. To use an output payload from an archive it must be manually extracted using a plain text editor.
Note: If you are prompted for data source and business unit details in the source runtime options, you may enter one or the other, but it is not necessary to enter both. This is because the data source is specific to the business unit.
