Financial tables examples - sample expenses by profit centre report columns
A sample Expenses by Profit Centre report column format has been defined using Financial Table Columns (FTC) and is identified by table code EXP. If you query this table code you will see there are six entries for the EXP table column code.
The column number bears no relation to the print column. It identifies the logical sequence in which columns are calculated. As with line and row numbers, leave gaps so that you can add new columns later if you need to.
If you view column 1 you can see that the column type is set to Heading. This column type is used for printing the row code and row description. If accounts are printed across the report, the row code is the account code. The row description is set up for each row in Financial Table Rows (FTR).
The Column Basis for heading columns will be either Row Description or Row Code.
The Print Position number represents the column number in which the information will be printed on the report. The Row Description will be printed in column 2. As it takes up three columns, you must not use Print Position 3 and 4 for other information. Row Description and Row Column do not have to appear at the left hand side of a report, they can be printed in any column.
Query column 3 prints the Row Code in Print Position 1. It also prints the heading Account Code. You can see that up to four lines are available for headings. This is the same as the column headings used by financial analysis and financial statement reports.
Printing Transaction Data in Columns
Having specified in Financial Table Rows (FTR) which accounts are to be printed on each row, in Financial Table Columns (FTC) you can specify which analysis codes are going to be reported in each column. This is illustrated in column 5 in EXP.
Column 5 is a data column which indicates that this column reports transaction data. The Column Basis is set to Ledger Analysis 2, therefore, transactions will be selected for inclusion in this column depending on their code.
In the PK1 demonstration business unit, Ledger Analysis dimension 2 represents the department. The Column Basis Range shows which ledger analysis dimension 2 codes are to be included in this column. It includes the range 10000 to 19999. The figures will be printed in Print Position 5. The Column Data option defines the period of time being reported and is set to Year to Date.
