What is the Column Basis?

A column basis is required for Data, Heading and Continuation column types in Financial Table Columns (FTC).

For a Data or Continuation column, it identifies the basis on which transactions are selected and summarized to provide the column value. This is the primary selection criteria you want to use to select transactions to be reflected in the column values.

Note: The type of value that appears in the column is determined by the Column Data code.

A Heading column identifies a column on the report that contains text or description information rather than values. For this type of column, the column basis is either Row Description to include the row name, or Row Code to include the code for the row, for example the account code or analysis code.

You can choose any of the following details as the column basis. The majority of these options are used to select the transactions for the column:

Account Analysis Dimensions (1 to 10)
Ledger Transaction Analysis Dimensions (1 to 10)
Currency Code
Row Code (occupies one print column)
Row Description (may occupy three print columns)
Account Code
Allocation Marker
Asset Code
Asset Analysis Dimensions (Fixed Asset Register)
Asset Marker (Fixed Asset Register).

Note: You should not select the Account code as the basis for a column, if Account code has been selected as the basis for the report rows.
