Transferring Report Data to other Software Packages
In addition to producing a printed report, all three SunSystems Financials report writers can produce a file of the extracted data, which can then be transferred to another software package, for example to spreadsheet or financial modelling software.
The transfer file only includes the standard report row details. It does not include headings, total rows, or transaction details.
To create a transfer file you choose a Transfer File Format in the report layout or format details.
What Transfer Formats are Supported?
You can produce a transfer file in any of the following formats:
Format | Description |
PRN | Print format |
CDFQ | Comma delimited with quotes |
2020 | Suitable for 2020 |
BDF | Bar delimited |
SYLK | Suitable for single-byte languages only |
CDF | Comma delimited |
FCS | Financial Control System |
The transfer file is produced at the same time as the SunSystems report file.
The transfer file contains the detailed report lines but does not show column headings, page headings, total lines, or individual transactions.
Most transfer formats separate amounts using commas. When they are read into, say, a spreadsheet application, they appear as separate columns. Where the target application can accept textual descriptions in addition to amounts, descriptions are also present on each line. They describe each of the analysis levels printed on the report. On most formats, the descriptions precede the amounts on the line.
